Family of Four ~ A Photo Shoot ~

I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot with my big brother's family last week.  We headed over to Sharon Woods on possibly the most humid day of the year so far.  They were troopers, even my little niece who had just turned one!  My niece and nephew are possibly two of the sweetest little children on the planet.  They are both just so sensitive and loving and I had a great time trying to capture their sweet little smiles.  Here are some of my favorites.

Oh my gosh, I am so in love with this picture.  Don't they look like little partners in crime?!

This series of her on the bridge are just precious.  I love when I capture a series of expressions.

Cute Family!!

I've been wanting to pics in a field forever.  And this chair was actually my grandmother's chair when she was a little girl so it's nice that her great-granddaughter got to use it.

Love how she's holding up her dress and you can see her chubby legs!

He loves to have his picture taken, which worked out awesome for me...I had a ton of great ones to choose from!

I have two little chairs that I use for props and this one was my mom's when she was a little girl.  I'm thinking this might end up being one of her favorite pics!

I like how this is so natural, and the baby is trying to escape.

She's a thumbsucker, so this is one of my favorites too.

This was one of the last photos.  This is what happens whenever her mom moves more than three feet away from her.  She's like, "How dare you, woman!"

I had such a good time, even though I was sweating buckets!  Hope you enjoyed them!

Photo Friday ~ 25 ~

This week was a bad week for personal photos.  I had two photo shoots, and the more "real" photo shoots I have, the less likely I am to take pics just for fun.  Guess I feel like I need a break from being behind the camera sometimes.  Or it could be that I spent all my free time this week editing photos so therefore I didn't have time or energy to take any pics just for fun.  I need to figure this phenomenon out for the future.   In the meantime, I picked some photos that I did take this week, and while I don't think they are fabulous, I'm going to quote Project Runway and "make it work".  Here goes.

This was a picture that I took out the window of our van while driving home from the photo shoot with my nieces.  I wasn't driving, my husband was, but we were going about 65 mph, so I think this turned out pretty good!  It was such a gorgeous sunset and I like how you can just make out the tops of the cornstalks.

Here is my baby who had to do the same pose as my two year old niece.  I think she might be just a tad too enormous for this anymore.  Her feet were practically dragging the ground.  Gotta love that smile with the missing tooth though!

This is my Little House on the Prairie shot.  I loved that show when I was little.  The silly bands on her arm are ruining the illusion though.

I had to include this because the other day he asked me to take his picture, which he rarely does, and I got the sweetest smile.  He likes to take our yard stick and balance it between the chair and ottoman to make a bridge for his matchbox cars.

Have a great weekend everyone!  I have another photo shoot tomorrow, so next week the blog will be full of new pics!

Sugar and Spice ~ A Photo Shoot ~

These sweet sisters are actually my nieces, so of course I'm a little biased, but I happen to think that they are absolutely adorable.  The older one looks just like her dad and the little one looks exactly like her mom.  I'm always fascinated when this happens in families.  I guess it's because neither of my kids looks like me or my husband.  We spent some time at a park near their house and we had a ton of fun.  These little girlies are full of energy so I was a sweaty mess trying to keep up with them, but it was worth it!  Here are some of my favorites from their shoot.

I adore the expression on her face in this one!

This one was taken near the end our of shoot, so you can see a little dirt on her knees, but that's what makes me love it...it's so her.

You know I'm a sucker for a cute profile shot.

See, aren't they adorable?!

Love her eyes in this one.

This is her signature pose.  I just love it when little girls do something that they think is cute.  And just so happens, this is actually a pretty cute pose!

Cutie pie.  I just love her cheeks.

We found a tiny little patch of flowers and it was perfect.

This might be my favorite picture right now.  Love her little head tilt, the expression, and the sun on her face.

I'm having so much fun on all my photo shoots lately.  I'm so much more confident now and that is helping a lot.  I have another family shoot from last night to blog, so check back soon!

Photo Friday ~ 24 ~

This photo was taken in our neighbors garden.  One of our favorite neighbors had a beautiful garden of vegetables every year and he would tend it daily and my kids loved to go out and talk to him and help him.  But sadly his wife died during the winter and he also became ill and now he is living in a retirement home.  He says he will never come back to the house now that she's not there.  It's so sad to see his beautiful garden turn to a patch of weeds.  If I had the right knowledge and tools I'd try to plant it for him.  Maybe next year if he's still not home and his garden is just sitting there.  The kids love to go out and run around through the garden and pick the wildflowers that are growing there.  They miss him though and often ask where he is.  I love this picture of my daughter looking over her shoulder.  She was having fun running away from me as I tried to get a photo.  She is definitely giving me some good practice for action shots!

Love this one showing off the new window in her mouth.  I wanted to take her picture because we had been swimming that day and she looked like she had some little curl in the hair around her face.  It doesn't show up as well in the photo, but for her that is a lot of curl.

I love this one of her eyes and her wispy hair.  I usually hate when I cut off someone's chin, but I like this anyway...her eyes draw you right in.

This is my son watching the ducks at the park.  I love the water droplets on his cheeks.

This is so similar to the last one, but I just couldn't choose.  I love his little hands on the rail, his sweet smile and the beautiful, soft background.

Ducks in a Row

I'm not usually one for taking nature pictures.  Mostly because I suck at it.  I just have a hard time with it for some reason.  Good thing that's not my life's ambition...  But we were at the park today and I had to share a couple of the good ones I got.  At least for me their good.

I lucked into this shot of this bird that we scared away on accident.  I have no idea what type of bird this is...maybe my lack of wildlife knowledge is hindering my wildlife photography...

All the baby ducks in a row.  And you thought this post was going to be about getting myself organized. ; )

Duck,

duck,

Goo...okay, it's just more ducks.  Bottoms up!

And since I'm on a wildlife kick, I thought I'd throw in this picture of a baby bird that my daughter found in our yard.  She really, really wanted to keep him, but then he hopped off into the bushes...hope his mama found him.

Not Quite Fort Knox

Summer is great.  But I'm starting to realize that I haven't really had time alone with my daughter in the afternoons in about 9 months and we are having a readjustment period.  She was in kindergarten during the afternoons and during the times she was home she always had her brother or some other kid that I was babysitting to play with. Now during my son's nap it's just me and her.  Which is awesome, don't get me wrong.  I love that we can cuddle on the couch and watch a movie or sit and play a game, but then I start looking around my house and wow, it's a mess!  I need to get some stuff done around here or I'm going to go insane.  Not that I'm like a super clean freak or anything, but I have to have things in order or I will start to get in a funk.  I can't handle all the clutter and the laundry piling up...it makes me irritated and then I get grumpy which in turn makes the kids grumpy.  Anyway, at least I know it's a problem, so I just have to get back on track.  So today I decided that she's got to get used to playing by herself again.  I mean, who are these mom's who have time to sit and play Littlest Pet Shop?  It's not like my mom was sitting down and playing Strawberry Shortcake with me when I was little (if you did, Mom, I don't remember, so sorry) and I turned out fine!  So, while we did do a little "flying" on my feet and some tickling and goofing around, I told her she had to find something to do.  I was inspired by my friend posting some pictures of her kids making forts so I told her I'd help her make one really quick.  My son has a tendency to want to help her with these projects which irritates my little control freak and then he will inevitably end up ruining it on accident (or on purpose) so it turned out to be the perfect activity to do during his nap.

There's a chair buried in there somewhere.

I tried to sneak a few pics of her.

Waving the paparazzi away.  Oh and she lost her top tooth today...finally!

Peeking out one of the many doors.

My little wild child.

After I got her all set up I went off to clean and didn't hear a peep out of her for at least an hour.  When I came back by she told me she put furniture in her fort and I peeked in and she had a doll highchair and a doll table and a little chair in there.  No pics though...I can't stop when I get in cleaning mode, I'm on a mission.  Hopefully she can fill her afternoons with fun little activities that she can enjoy on her own and get her imaginative juices flowing.  After all, that's what summers are all about.

Photo Friday ~ 23 ~

I tried to take some pictures of my kids at the park this week, but they were so not in the mood.  My daughter actually told me, "This is the worst day of my life!".  We were at a playground and I wanted to walk around and scope out a better location for a photo shoot I have in a couple weeks.  So we started down this long path that was supposed to have a lake and playground at the end.  It was downhill the whole way there which was no problem.  But after we checked out the merry go round and she bumped her head on it somehow, she was not in the mood for photos.  Then we had to walk back uphill the whole way and then my son needed me to carry him along with my camera bag, ugh, nothing like an extra 35 pounds hanging around your neck.  And then my daughter declared that she was "thirsting to death".  It was all just a tad bit melodramatic.  After all that, I still didn't get any stellar pictures.  I got a few cute ones, but I might share those in a different post.  Then after naptime I was able to snap a few in our front yard when everyone was in a better mood.  Why do all my favorite pictures happen in outfits that I don't like?  I need to get them dressed up and brush their hair and do a "real" photo shoot sometime.  Oh well, I still like these that I got of my daughter.  I can't believe how grown up she is starting to look lately.  Make it stop!

See what I mean?!  She looks like a teenager with attitude in this picture.  It's like looking into the future, and honestly, it scares me.  But at least I know she is going to be confident!  I love this pic though.  There's just something about it...

Okay, this picture is the sweet little girl I love.  She's still got her sweet cheeks and her top tooth is just hanging there by a thread.  I could just eat her up.

Summer Breeze Makes Me Feel Fine

Now you're going to have that song stuck in your head all day.  I'm so mean...  It has been just crazy beautiful weather the past couple days so I have been trying to spend as much time as possible outside.  I will not be posting as often as before now that it's summer.  I have so many plans already.  And then I have to make time for all the spur of the moment fun, and all of the laying around and doing nothing kind of days.  Ahhh...I love summer.  Already today we went to the free kids movie at our local theater, had pancakes for lunch at Grandma and Papa's house (completely unplanned, but the kids begged) and then came home and painted two tables that my mom gave me.  Wow, I'm so productive when I don't have extra kids hanging around!  I kind of miss them though, and I know by the end of summer I will definitely miss them and be ready to have them back.  I have a whole huge to do list and I'm hoping to get most of it done in these few short weeks.  So, be patient and check back, I'll still try to do at least one post a week and then of course, Photo Friday.  Gotta get out my camera and capture all the carefree fun!

Here's a random picture of my son and my nephew.  I think it's funny how they both have the same expression on their faces.  It was super humid that day.

Get outside and enjoy that summer breeze!  It will be over before you know it!
